OK, the way I’m mixing CACTPM9 I’m marching straight into 45 minutes per CD so I have decided to cut the mix down to 2 CD’s containing ~100 tracks per CD. To keep the mix flowing, there’s like 30 or 40 seconds time for each song. This feels like twice a 90’s yearmix. :)
Current status: 35/1** tracks mixed, 23m56s into the mix and we’re swinging at 102.0 bpm.
OK, seems like I forgot there’s June, July, August and September before October hits the calender. Which means I have four months to complete a mix with 210 tracks in 3CD’s before I even start thinking about Yearmix 2015. Looks like it’s a 2015 release for C.A.C.T.P.M. 9. Before the annually yearmix flood is coming… :)
OK. Here we go! All 215 tracks are sorted on key and bpm. The plan is to mix 70 tracks per CD. To fit them inside one hour will give the songs a bit more time than a regular DJ Esanto Yearmix. Mixing will start soon. Updates will be posted on the C.A.C.T.P.M. page.
Well, here it is: volume 8 of my C.A.C.T.P.M. series. And it’s a special one: 2 CD’s full of 80’s disco music: the music that got you and me to the dance floors in the late 80’s. I gathered CD singles from 1986-1989, purchased them from all over the world, the last couple of years. I knew I just had to create a mix like this. Ben Liebrand’s Grandmixes from the 80’s really inspired me to start DJ-ing in the first place, I bought a lot of 12-inch records and created long mixes using two Technics SL1210-MK2 turntables. However I didn’t have the equipment to cut & paste back in the day. And now I have those 80’s floorfillers on CD also so that made the decision to create C.A.C.T.P.M. Volume 8 a bit easier. :-)
Let’s talk about the mix itself. Two CD’s, each containing 75 tracks (CD1 has an intro plus 74 music tracks, CD2 has 75 music tracks), starting from 94.6 bpm all the way to 126.7 bpm. I started mixing early August 2011 and got the last track in, halfway November. That meant splitting myself up ‘coz I was also busy creating Yearmix 2011. Go figure. ;-) About the subtitle… The subtitle for this mix is in fact “The 80’s edition” but it only (!!) covers the last few years of the 80’s so it’s in fact “The late in the 80’s Disco Edition”. Oh and disco… well, that’s because I frequently visited the Marathon disco in the Hague, Holland. Spent hours on the floor dancing to these wonderful tunes!
OK, here’s another post from my old website, now in a new style. :) Latest news: C.A.C.T.P.M. 7 has been be aired on Radio Stad Den Haag during the program Discontinu the 17th and the 18th of July. For more information check the Radio Stad…
